From 08 to 14 April 2019, bauma, the world's largest construction machinery equipment trade fair will once again be opening its doors. Under the heading "Our contribution to increase productivity on the construction site", the Doka Campus will be presenting the most recent products, services and innovations from the world of formwork on a 4,700 m² booth. In the open-air area north/west at the booth FN.420, is the location where visitors can experience all the new features and solutions of productivity increase in every aspect of formwork engineering.

The bauma breaks already the first record three months before the official start on April 8th. More than 3500 exhibitors from 55 countries have registered - almost 100 more exhibitors than in 2016 at the last show. The trade fair site in eastern Munich has expanded to 614,000 square metres and the number of exhibition halls has increased to 18. The same way bauma has expanded, Doka has also added two new sectors to its presence this year. On the 4,700 m² Campus will be presenting the full range of products and services from Doka, Form-on's formwork trade and, for the first time, the Umdasch Group Ventures will present its innovative projects.

The Umdasch Group is an umbrella organisation with three operational companies Doka, Umdasch Group Ventures and umdasch The Store Makers. Doka’s sister company Umdasch Group Ventures deals with future trends and new technologies in the construction field and focuses exclusively on the development of groundbreaking potentially disruptive innovations. In 2019, the Umdasch Group’s innovation hub will present three new solutions: Contour Crafting (3D printing in construction), Neulandt (mobile precasting plant primarily for affordable housing) and Contakt (jobsite digitisation).

Form-on is a Doka subsidiary that supplies worldwide new and used formwork components. Form-on has two divisions, the first is the COMPONENTS division, which supplies the dealers and formwork manufacturers with brand-new formwork components such as sheets, beams, props and plywood. The second division is USED, which buys and sells a variety of quality of used formwork of different manufacturers.

The Doka Campus conception is a meeting place, oriented toward dialogue and communication with the fair visitors. The bauma tradeshow is the unique opportunity of presenting Doka world with all its aspects and, most importantly of all, of displaying Doka’s contribution to productivity on construction site, including products, services and digital solutions.

Every day, our clients are performing exceptionally. Doka assists them in this and wants to be remembered as a construction-industry partner who today already has tomorrow's solutions for boosting productivity on jobsite and who is also looking even further forward into the future. Our most important messages at bauma 2019 are an extended portfolio of our products and services, and especially new ideas for boosting productivity on construction site in every aspect of formwork and in-situ concreting”, states Harald Ziebula, Chairman of the Executive Board, Doka.

As it was at bauma 2016, live product demonstrations with the current world champions and vice world champions in concrete construction (WorldSkills 2017) will be among the special highlights this year. What is new here is that the DokaXlight formwork system will be used in this year's performance.

The two-level Engineering Tower of 16 metres high will be a presentative of Doka’s engineering competence. Visitors will be able to use Virtual Reality (VR) to experience difference scenarios and follow presentations focusing separately on the highrise, infrastructure and energy sectors of construction. The engineering experts will be available to discuss the specifics of each sector. Doka team with their global practical experience and concrete findings supports customers in their projects all over the world.

The latest digital solutions optimise construction procedures on site
Before visitors enter Doka's formwork world, they immerse themselves in the world of digitisation. In the Digital Services area, the most recent digital solutions and services from Doka can be tried out on a total area of 225 m². The range of digital services is presented in three subsections – Smart Jobsite, Smart Assistants and Smart Planning. This puts Doka's main focus on digital solutions for optimising procedures on site and contributing significantly to a productivity boost in the construction industry. Simplified working procedures, more transparency and better quality in execution are the central aspects of this digital Doka drive.

The Doka AR-VR app (www.doka.com/ar) enables customers to experience selected Doka solutions in augmented and virtual reality. The use cases range from projecting Doka formwork on to printed plans through positioning 3D models in their surroundings to taking virtual reality tours into and around Doka solutions. A 3D view of the models and QR code readers round off the app’s functionality. Some 3D models even let viewers show and hide certain components and watch animations of the set-up procedures.

Concremote is an innovative service that has established itself as an indispensable partner on numerous construction sites. The unique digital measuring and decision-supporting system that measures concrete strength development on site and in real-time now comes with a raft of software and hardware innovations. Among others, the new web portal features FORECAST for predicting strength development and SCENARIO for comparing several concrete formulations as well as the new Concremote App deserve special mention.

The software and consulting service Contakt incorporates specially developed sensor technology and delivers information straight from the construction site, enhancing value-adding time and enabling construction processes to be optimised so that Doka projects can be completed on time and within budget. There is a mobile app for planning, organising and controlling the work on site and the material and human resources. Building contractors and project owners benefit from more transparency and can optimise their workflows and competitiveness based on the data from the field.

Virtual construction is set to become a standard tool in the near future. Networking and automation of the “real construction site” will continue to increase. For Doka, this means that with VDC/BIM (Virtual Design and Construction/Building Information Modelling), formwork solutions can be matched even more closely to the planning and construction process for any given building, contributing significantly to the success of the project as a whole. Customers enjoy specific benefits, including the ability to access up-to-date information on the building at any time and run simulations to check construction progress, cost and safety.

The myDoka customer portal offers first-class customer service. Customers have convenient access to their specific project or site information at any time from a PC, tablet or smartphone, an ideal interface to the Doka team. Over the past few months, software engineers have worked intensely on further enhancing myDoka. The online portal is now even more user-friendly, structured and intuitive. Its new functionalities make it even easier for customers to manage their projects and jobsites.

Yard management is a Doka offering that will enable customers to manage rented Doka material while also maintaining a full overview of their own equipment stock. With rented and owned equipment managed together, the customer will have a central platform for clear visualisation and optimised organisation.

The Online Shop enables Doka to access the potential of digitisation in E-commerce, with customers being able to use all types of devices (PCs, tablets, smartphones) and operating systems to access the online offering and buying selected Doka products. Customers also have an up-to-date overview of products, availability and prices, in addition to recommendations for the necessary accessories and add-ons.

New products from the Doka world

Safety, speed and cost-effectiveness are increasingly becoming a decisive success factor in tough construction site work. Doka formwork systems are optimised to deliver precisely this success. In the formwork world, Doka customers can experience this on first hand in a variety of areas.

FreeFalcon is one of the latest products of the most important trendy sector, which is safety. It closes the gap in the area of flexible overhead anchor points on construction sites and is the perfect synthesis of safety and freedom of movement. This mobile personal fall-arrest system secures workers where the risk of a fall is most critical. This significantly enhances user safety without sacrificing mobility, helping to minimise the risk of falls from height.

Dokaflex Xbrace is an enhanced version of the Dokaflex timber-beam floor formwork that adds flexibility, universal usability and simplicity of use to contemporary safety aspects. All existing Dokaflex systems can be adapted to the new version.

With Framini, Doka has extended its product portfolio in Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. At this time, the new framed Framini is a good example of how a formwork system can boost productivity on small and medium-sized construction sites, particularly when residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects have to be built quickly, professionally and economically. Low weight and optimised ergonomics reduce the effort involved in formworking operations and make Framini a fast and universally adaptable formwork system.

DokaXlight framed formwork is another new product that also combines lightness with durability. It is now being used for the first time on construction sites across Europe. In future, it will be among the lightest framed formwork systems in the Doka range of products.

A cooperation with the Malaysian company MFE Formwork Technology Sdn Bhd., a leader in monolithic formwork systems, has enabled Doka to extend its presence in South-east Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. In the future Doka will offer Doka Monolithic a new solution for the monolithic formwork sector, to enable walls, columns, downstand beams and slabs to be concreted in a single operation.

bauma Innovation Award 2019In the highrise construction sector, DokaXact is a product innovation celebrating its world première at this year’s bauma. DokaXact is a sensor-based system enabling speed and precision for surveyors and site crews setting up the wall formwork of self-climbing systems
